Features of the Lodges include:

Solid Timber Walls  The logs for the walls of these solid timber homes are produced from only the finest grade Eastern White Pine or Western Cedar. To maintain the highest quality, the logs are selected from only straight grain healthy trees.

The Ultimate Sealing System  Lincoln Seal® II is the most reliable sealing system in the log home industry. The benefits of double tongue and groove joinery are combined with two special sealing materials: a caulk that remains pliable for the life of the structure, and a special foam gasket that is specifically designed for log home structures.

Windows  Standard windows are either solid wood or wood and aluminum clad. These are high performance windows that use state-of-the-art techniques that reflect heat back into a room in the winter and reflect heat out during the summer, affording up to twice the energy efficiency of double-paned windows. Each window comes with flat exterior casings, colonial grills and aluminum screens. These units are fully weather stripped with double seals, offering excellent protection against wasteful heat or cooling loss.

Doors  These homes feature high quality, insulated steel entry doors. All doors are fully weather-stripped providing excellent insulation. Swinging doors include wood flat exterior casings, adjustable sills and handsome brass locksets. Sliding and swinging patio doors are clear wood-framed, fully weather-stripped and come with removable wooden grills and aluminum screens.

The Roof System To add to the architectural interest and to maximize energy efficiency, the roofs are designed with a generous overhang. This large overhang helps protect the home from the elements, which in turn minimizes maintenance requirements. The roofs feature class A fire-rated fiberglass-impregnated asphalt shingles.

Built-in Energy Efficiency Solid timber walls keep these homes warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer, due to two significant advantages:

First, wood is a natural insulator, and the low density and fine closed cellular structure of the Easter White Pine and Western Cedar timbers gives the walls especially good insulating properties. A second benefit these types of wood offer is low volumetric shrinkage, which allows joints to maintain their tight fit.

In addition, since the walls are solid, rather than hollow as in standard stick-built construction, they have more "thermal mass." This allows them to absorb heat, and then re-radiate it back to its source (inside in winter, outside in summer).
